This position is responsible for the fabrication and verification of rigid metal tubing, for a multitude of operations, by fitting, forming, bending, twisting, pressing, grinding, and polishing according to specifications, for use in hydraulic fuel, pneumatic, waste and exhaust installations for aerospace and space engine and aircraft applications.

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Performs visual and dimensional checks on materials, assemblies, tube details, components and finished products. Inspect and test, components, parts, tube details, and assemblies to validate conformance to blueprints and instructions by customer and to company operating procedures by performing the following duties:
  • Verifies data and documentation for the part(s) are compliant and all customer and policy requirements have been met during all previous steps assembling the job.
  • Catalogs and retrieves special mylar and or fixture tooling.
  • Remove and replace caps, mesh and other materials on the tube used for parts handling.
  • Lifts, positions, and removes work pieces from fixtures to assist in fitting and welding.
  • Prepares and visually inspects assemblies and details to acceptable cosmetic and dimensional requirements.
  • Use various tools to make small adjustments to the tube’s length, bend angle, and/or angle of fittings, such as a Vice, Adjustable Wrench, Pin, Block, and/or Hammer.
  • Assemble and install nuts, wires, rivets, fiberglass insulation, or other materials according to specifications.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, method sheets, process sheets, policies and procedures to manufacture a variety of rigid metal tubes.

  • Able to accurately reads and follow X-ray film or digital techniques to produce quality images
  • Adjusts controls of Liquid Penetrant machines /equipment on console to inspect and certify parts or assemblies.
  • Follows set radiation safety procedures for personnel and area monitoring

  • Perform various functions by hand and utilizes hand tools to prepare hose for assembly including removing rubber to buff back ends for fittings, connect fittings to hose, apply RTV, and other assembly preparations
  • Sets up and operates abrasive, squaring, deburring, and sizing equipment such as swager or crimper.
  • Lifts, positions, and removes work pieces from machines.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, method sheets, process sheets, policies and procedures to manufacture a variety of rigid and flexible metal tubes.

  • Subject matter experts in product, manufacturing or highly techincal customer programs.
  • Review and approval of engineering change control for drawings and manufacturing processes
  • Familiar with change management, failure analysis, lean six sigma tools
  • Supports product development efforts for an Aerospace fluid distribution business.
  • Supports failure analysis using analytical and statistical tools.
  • Identifies, in conjunction with marketing and engineering management, promising areas of research or technology that address unmet needs and have large potential markets.
  • Communicates overview of all products under development, and their stage of development in project review meetings.
  • Submits proposals considered feasible to management for consideration and allocation of funds, or allocates funds from department budget.
  • Develops and implements methods and procedures for monitoring projects, such as preparation of records of expenditures and research findings, progress reports, and staff conferences, in order to inform management of current status of each project.
  • Collaborates with academia, government, and corporations.
  • Tracks industry trends, relevant legislation, and competitor activities.

STS Aerospace in Laconia, NH is searching for a Manufacturing Assembly to join the team. This position involves the fabrication of metal tubing both rigid and flexible, for a multitude of operations, by cutting, grinding, forming, de-burring, cleaning, swaging, and polishing according to specifications, for use in hydraulic fuel, pneumatic, waste and exhaust installations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs visual and dimensional checks on materials, assemblies, tube details, components and finished products.
  • Plans, lay out, fabricate, assembles, install, salvage parts from assemblies and repair rigid and/or flexible tube assemblies, fixtures, equipment, and products by performing the following duties.
  • Perform various functions by hand and utilizes hand tools to prepare hose for assembly including removing rubber to buff back ends for fittings, connect fittings to hose, apply RTV, and other assembly preparations.
  • Sets up and operates abrasive, squaring, deburring, and sizing equipment such as swager or crimper.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, method sheets, process sheets, policies and procedures to manufacture a variety of rigid and flexible metal tubes.
  • Consistently, regularly and predictably at work and on time· Other duties may be assigned as needed

Education, Certifications, Licenses & Registrations

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
