Plans and conducts activities concerned with the quality control and quality assurance of tools, materials, and products by performing the following duties:

Performs a wide range of metrology activities that include:

  1. Dimensional inspection and analysis of product using simple to advanced gaging techniques and equipment
  2. Dimensional inspection and analysis of products, fixtures, tooling, and Mylar overlays using CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) techniques, software, and equipment
  3. Calibration of inspection, test, and process control equipment and gages in accordance with established customer and industry requirements.

Scope of Responsibilities

Dimensional Inspection and Analysis: Receiving Inspection

o    Creates plans and performs measurement activities for product inspection in Receiving Inspection.

o    Develops and implements measurement techniques using a variety of gages, devices, and equipment to ensure accurate and effective product verifications.

o    Develops and implements software programs for advanced inspection equipment (i.e. vision systems, direct computer control CMM systems)

o    Develops inspection method sheets, over-inspection plans, and measurement training guides

o    Provides training and coaching to others in the use of measuring techniques and set-ups to perform product verifications

Dimensional Inspection and Analysis: CMM

o    Creates plans and performs measurement activities for CMM verification of products, fixtures, tooling, and mylar overlays.

o    Develops and implements measurement techniques and software programs for bridge and portable CMM equipment

o    Provides training and coaching to others in the use of advanced measuring equipment (CMMs) and techniques

o    Assists engineers and other technical resources in formulating measurement verification plans for fixtures, tools, and products including first article inspections.

Calibration of Measuring and Test Equipment (M&TE):

o    Creates plans and performs calibration activities for measuring and test equipment

o    Maintains an effective calibration recall and control system that provides for identification, traceability, and history of calibrated measurement and test equipment and fixtures throughout the business.

o    Coordinate and manage outside calibration service

Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.

Plans and conducts inspections to assure the quality of the assigned product or component.

Establishes program to evaluate precision and accuracy of measurement equipment.

Reviews purchased products or components and provides input to the decision to accept the product.

Documents data obtained during all quality activities consistent with company policies and procedures.

Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality activities.

Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.

Prepares reports to communicate involvement and results of quality activities.

Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members and management.

Directs technical and administrative workers engaged in quality activities (technically, not supervisory).

Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality codes and standards.

STS Aerospace in Laconia, NH is searching for an Operations Manager to join the team.  This position directs and coordinates activities concerned with production of company product(s) by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Scope of Responsibilities

  • Confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.
  • Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors.
  • Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.
  • Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems.
  • Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.
  • Revises production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure or operating problems.
  • Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.
  • Conducts hearings to resolve or effect settlement of grievances and refers unresolved grievances for management union negotiations.
  • Compiles, stores, and retrieves production data.
  • Assists organizational and individual cultural development
  • Responsible for assisting in site continuous improvement activities that have a positive impact on culture and key KPIs

Supervisory Responsibilities

Manages 3-5 subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 50-100 employees in various manufacturing departments and Shipping and Receiving. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Also directly supervises 3-8 non-supervisory employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

Scope of Responsibilities

Reads work orders, follows production drawings, method sheets, and operating procedures to run production volume through vacuum furnace cycles.

· Positions and aligns parts in specified relationship to each other in jig, fixture, or other holding devices.

· Stake, resistance, tack, cement, press fits, or performs similar operations to join or secure parts in place.

· Adjusts materials from components to achieve specified dimensional characteristics.

· Loads and unloads furnace, establish correct settings, makes necessary adjustments to insure proper furnace operation.

This position is responsible for the production and interpretation of radiographic images of tube assemblies or castings, for dimensional inspection, flaw detection, or presence of foreign material.

  • Able to accurately reads and follow X-ray film or digital techniques to produce quality images
  • Adjusts controls of Liquid Penetrant machines /equipment on console to inspect and certify parts or assemblies.

  • Perform various functions by hand and utilizes hand tools to prepare hose for assembly including removing rubber to buff back ends for fittings, connect fittings to hose, apply RTV, and other assembly preparations
  • Sets up and operates abrasive, squaring, deburring, and sizing equipment such as swager or crimper.
  • Lifts, positions, and removes work pieces from machines.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, method sheets, process sheets, policies and procedures to manufacture a variety of rigid and flexible metal tubes.
